A sustainable mindset is the need of the hour. Concerns about fulfilling the needs of current generations without compromising the needs of future ones is called sustainability. We all have heard about making our Earth a sustainable world from the past couple of years and this is also an active topic for all the environmentalists. Thus, the United Nations have taken an initiative called Sustainable Development Goals that are 17 goals which work towards the betterment of the people living on earth as well as for nature.
Though the word sustainable consists of 11 letters, the actions taken towards achieving sustainability are small and easy and are applicable in our day to day life.
People should not be carried away by the new trending clothing styles & should avoid fast fashion. People should understand that these trends change rapidly and result in cloth wastage in large amounts which can affect the environment. So people should wear their clothes not only once but use them regularly instead of buying new clothes.
We all should save electricity and water by doing simple tasks like switching off lights and fans when not in use, closing taps and using buckets instead of showers. We should travel in public transport or carpool which saves energy. Vehicles should work on CNG and people should use the 4R rule which is reduce, reuse, recycle and refuse.
The Sustainable Development Goals consist of many goals which are related to nature and improving the surroundings but equality and discrimination also comes under a sustainable future. We should not only act towards our environment but also towards our societies by doing justice and treating everyone equally regardless of their colour, caste, disabilities, religious backgrounds etc.
These things can only be achieved if we all come together and work as a team and aim to make this world sustainable in every aspect of life.
