CBSE Board Exam 2024: 8 Tips to Score 95+ Marks in Class 12 Economics Paper

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to conduct the CBSE Class 12 Economics board examination on March 18, 2024. Economics is considered to be one of the highest-scoring subjects and an aggregate puller in the board exams for Commerce and Humanities stream students.

Students can’t just mug up the entire syllabus (rote learning) and expect it to be enough.

A sound understanding of the concepts is essential and students can write answers in their own words. Understand what the question requires and answer accordingly.

Here’s the topic-wise tips and tricks shared by Sudeshna Bhattacharya, HOD Economics, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad.

1. SORT TOPICS
Go through the whole syllabus, especially for Indian economics, and sort topics according to their weightage. This helps you determine how much time you should be giving to every topic.

Aggregate demand and supply is a vast chapter, and you will find a ton of important questions there. Practise a variety of sums for National Income with different components.

2. MAKING YOUR OWN NOTES
It is very important that you make and study from your own handwritten notes. Do not rely on any other notes be it any top educator or a friend. This way you’ll add extra notes or remarks where you deem it to be fit and will remember what you wrote.

3. PREVIOUS YEAR AND SAMPLE QUESTION PAPERS
These help you analyse the pattern of the question paper and make you familiar with the language of the questions. The questions won’t be direct but if you read carefully, you’ll understand what it needs or you’ll find a keyword hinting at the answer.

4. SELF-CHECK AND TIME MANAGEMENT
Evaluate your own answers after solving them by checking the answer key and analyse how many marks you would allot as an examiner. Doing this multiple times helps you write a satisfactory answer.

5. KEEP THE ANSWER SIMPLE AND CRISP
You don’t need to write unnecessary backgrounds and stories in your answer. Even if it’s a 5 marker, keep your answer short and crisp including all the relevant points only. Try to write your answer in points as it distinguishes each argument, and they don’t mix up.

6. PRESENTATION
Underline the keywords wherever possible; this makes it easier for the examiner to skim through the answer sheet. Add diagrams and graphs (macroeconomics) wherever possible. It often helps you check your own answer.

7. LAST-MINUTE REVISION TIPS
You might want to look at some important questions in the end which you found to be a little tricky and revise the important concepts from not your book, not any summary, but from your own notes.

8. READING TIME
Utilise the reading time before the exam to read the questions thoroughly, to understand intent and intricacy of each question.
